- Student groups create a code of laws according to whatever philosophical tenets they feel are most important. They then compare the rulings of their laws to the judgments of Hammurabi in several test cases.

- Piecing Together a Legend
- Students attempt to unscramble a set of cuneiform fragments that tell the same core story with different levels of embellishment. They write a reconstructed, historical version of this story and compare it to other groups’ versions. The activity reinforces the difficult nature of archaeological work when the source material is fragmented and damaged.
